The Gingerbread Incident

Six townsfolk, one half-eaten cookie, and a very suspicious bite — but who was really sitting where when it happened?

Use the clues to figure out who was seated in each of the six chairs around the table. Once you know who was sitting in seat number 1, you’ll know who took the bite out of the mayor’s prized gingerbread cookie.

Enter only a seat number in each field below.

Hint 1: Isabel was sitting to Arjun’s left
To test this clue, try putting Arjun and Isabel on the same side of the table. Isabel must be immediately to Arjun’s left (not across from him).

Use this layout as a starting point:

Hint 2: Malik was sitting next to Walter
Now find two seats side-by-side to place Malik and Walter. Don’t worry about where they are yet — just make sure they’re neighbors.

Hint 3: Maya was not sitting next to Sam
Look at your current setup. Are Sam and Maya side-by-side?

Try swapping Walter and Maya next:

Hint 4: Arjun was not across from Malik
If your current version has Arjun directly across from Malik, something’s off. Adjust them so they’re not facing each other.

Clue 5 tells us Sam has to be across from Walter… and Clue 6 means that we have to shift everyone, so that Sam is in either seats 3, 4, or 5.

We can see that shifting everyone so that Sam is in seat 5, 4 and 3 do not work to have sam across from Walter, because they are next to each other.

Can Malik and Walter swap places? Yes!
